A Travellerspoint blog

New Year

sunny 30 °C

Am absolutely "pooped" as we have been taking Jack to work in Brissie. Holiday times pay well for Jack and I wanted to take some "stuff" home as I have rented out my apartment for a year. John and I are travelling a lot this year so when the offer came we grabbed it. Hope our health holds out now to enjoy it .

The days up here have been just lovely - a bit windy - but you have to take the good with the bad eh?

How lucky can you be? The weather is still holding - fine and sunny - just awesome Queensland sunshine.
Jack had a kite - action lesson and for that I ran him up to the Rotary Park near Cottontree. He went out near the estuary of the Maroochy River. I went and shopped about and had a coffee while I waited.

Had another trip to Brissie with another "load " and celebrated New Year's Eve at the dance at the Grange Bowls Club with Kerry and Jan Sonter.
Returned again on New Years Day but called in for a BBQ at Jo's place at Maleny. Jo and June put the lunch on to celebrate Lisa's birthday and a pleasant afternoon was had by all.

We were in John's old work truck as my new tenants wanted the third bedroom devoid of furniture so they can use it as an office hence it was a busy evening and a loaded truck and we returned to Brissie at 8.15pm to avoid any traffic snarls. Then it was up again today and we continued to bokarina and called on old friends - Marie and Johnny Vlieg and Shirley Gibson. had a pleasant and then while John went shopping at Stockland I washed and dried mats etc. and swept and mopped and vacuumed out the apartment ready to hand over the keys.

We are now ready for a relaxing time to get over the wild ride we've had over the so called "break"
Never mind "Variety is the spice of Life"

Xmas 2011

sunny 21 °C

How lucky can you be with the weather?? Days are fine and sunny and enjoyable - not even hot for a Queensland summer.
We left Warrilview at 4.45am so as to avoid negiotiating the work traffic on the Cunningham Highway. Jan fed us on a wonderful roast dinner the previous evening and Keith was up to see us off.

We had such a good run that we were through town and at the Moby Dick servo for a comfort stop and brekkie. We then had a sleep because we could not book in until 10.30am so arrived refreshed. The Hibiscus Waterfront Holiday Park has just had a massive million dollar revamp and is 4*
There is a new resort style swimming pool, brand-new state -of-the -art amenities block and a flash reception area.

Later, after we had set up, we drove up to my apartment near the CBX pub as Johnny and Alysone had arrived from Mt. Isa the previous day. After a chat and a cuppa' John went back to the Cara Park to put up the annex and I went over the road to Stockland's Shopping Centre to stock up on food for the fortnight.

Today Johnny and Alysone have gone up to Sunshine Shopping Plaza at Maroochdore and we will join them for "happy hour"

Well what a miserable afternoon, evening and am rain! rain! rain! Thank goodness xmas day was delightful and since Johnny and Alysone are cruising soon and Steven is flying to Townsville for a few days no one wanted to invest in a lot of food so we decided to lash out and celebrated Xmas Day with lunch at Ridge's Oasis Resort. seafood and grog etc.- great fare - no washing up either.P1010280.jpg P1010279.jpg

Replete - we wandered home along the boardwalk and finished up with coffee at Aspect on the balcony overlooking the pool.P1010289.jpg
